Gangwon-do is located at the middle of the eastern half of the Korean Peninsula. Dominated by the Taebaek Mountain Range, most of the land of this province is thickly-forested mountain slopes or scenic coastal strips. The Gangwon citizens are very proud of this natural beauty, and consider it a gift from Heaven. Spring Season

Dano Festival, Traditional dance▶

There is always festival In Gangwon-do all year round. Gangneung Dano Festival designated by UNESCO as a "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" In the ancient Korea, this was a day of spiritual rites, and enjoyment with song, dance, and wine. Traditionally, women wash their hair in water boiled with Sweet Flag (changpo), believed to make one's hair shiny. Men wore iris roots around their waist to ward of evil spirits. Traditional foods include surichitteok, ssuktteok, and other herb rice cake.

Cherry blossom Festival▶

Gyeongpo Cherry Blossom Festival has begun at the peak of blossom around Gyeongpodae since 1993. Various cultural and art events are being held. The cherry trees are in full bloom alongside the road of about 3km to the entrance and a number of visitors are fascinated by the beautiful scenery and have parties until late at night.

Summer

Gyeongpo Beach▶

It is famous as a large beach in Korea. It is presented with full waves of the East Sea and located 6㎞ from downtown. Waves running like engulfing everything, 1.8km long and 1.44k㎡ wide white sands sweeping up these, and the 4km long folding screen of pine forest surrounding it like isolating it from the outer world is a unique beauty of Gyeongpo Beach in harmony of the static with the dynamic.

You'll have a chance to feel the famous squid of Sokcho alive in your very own hands.

Rafting▶

Many people enjoy rafting in the valleys of Gangwon, with their great volumes of water and dynamic currents. Rafting down river valleys on rubber boats is the most exciting of leisure sports, due to the feeling of eternal freedom and fabulous thrills. In order to enjoy the biggest thrills, go rafting in the summer season when the water levels are higher.

Autumn (Fall)

Mt. Seoraksan is one of the most impressive tourist spots for foreign visitors, and is the place that Koreans love the most. Fantastic cliffs and great waterfalls touches people's hearts in a special way, with its dynamic and breathtaking beauty and colors all year round.

Binga (Icefish, translucent fish) Festival▶

This is the local festival of Inje where one can view the crystal clean Binga, the snow covered seorak Mountain, and the performing cultures of the mountain villages on the ice. You may participate in the Binga fishing competition, soccer game on the ice, and Mountain biking on the snowy mountain, along with a variety of food to try.

Gangwon Jeongsik▶

Stuffed Squid▶

This is a traditional Gangwon-do food. Minced pork or beef, tofu and a lot of vegies are inside of steamed squid, eating with soy sauce is so great!

Mak guksu (Cold noodle soup)▶

Buckwheat noodles in cold soup with Korean sauce in cold bowl. This is one of popular traditional food in Korea.
